Unable to get a letsencrypt certificate becasue of email no dot

Problem Description

I’ve installed sympl onto a raspberry pi, and set up a test webdomain using ddns.net. All that works just fine, but I can’t get a SSL certificate becasue Letsencrypt rejects the email address root@raspberrypi on the grounds that it lacks a dot.

The problem is that I have no idea where that address was set up (I used the automatic install script) and so no clue as to where I can change it.

Not sure if this is a a Sympl issue, a pi issue, or a numpty (me) issue.

Any Error Messages

Environment

  • Sympl Version [9.0/10.0]: 10
  • Debian Version [Buster/Stretch]: buster
  • Hardware Type? [Dedicated/Virtual/Pi] pi
  • Sympl Testing Version? [Yes/No] no

The machine’s host name is in /etc/hostname. If you change it, you usually need to reboot afterwards to make it work.
You may need an entry in /etc/hosts too, for the full domain name. You’ll have to set it to whatever domain name you are using with ddns.net.
