Installing extra PHP extensions

If I need some extra PHP extensions (e.g. BCMath) on Sympl, can I just install the relevant Debian packages (e.g. php-bcmath) as usual or does Sympl only work with a specific set of extensions?

I haven’t migrated any sites to Sympl yet but I’m expecting to in the near future and am trying to work out any potential issues in advance.

apt-get install php-bcmath etc.

sympl (and symbiosis) is quite happy running with PHP packages from e.g. php.sury.org or stock Debian.
