As far as I can make out, starttls using 587 is considered a bit Old Hat, and 465 / ssl is the New Way.
I tried sending emails using starttls 465 and it (predictably) failed, but ssl 465 worked fine.
So if it works for me in my “one email” test, why isn’t it the recommended setup?
Is there something I missed?
