Access to web directories

I’m hosting a website for a friend on a server running sympl.

I’ve been asked to setup 6 web directories, each directory will contain 6 certificates. I’ve been asked to generate QR code links to each directory so users can browse and select from the list of certificates within each web directory.

In terms of security I’m not too happy about entire directory access. What would be the best approach to this requirement?

Is there a reason you can’t just go the easy route and place the files in the directories, and simply create some basic HTML files to link to them?

As far as QR codes go, there are plenty of QR code generators available from a quick search.
